Wood Carving
Wood carving is a longstanding craft in the Middle East, traditionally focused on floral, arabesque, or ornamental motifs. Artisans use chisels and hand tools to carve intricate patterns directly into solid wood, creating depth and texture through detailed craftsmanship. In 2004, Nada Debs explored this heritage technique by replacing the traditional motifs with simplified, geometric patterns. She collaborated with craftsmen to create tactile surfaces that blend contemporary design with traditional hand-carving methods. This modern approach transformed an ancient craft into a new form of visual and material expression within her collections.
