Wood Turning

Wood turning is a traditional woodworking technique where artisans shape solid wood on a rotating lathe, using chisels to carve smooth, symmetrical forms. The craft requires precision and intuition, as each piece evolves through the rhythm of rotation and the hand’s response to the material. Nada Debs reimagined this technique by combining turned wood with unexpected materials, such as acrylic. By using transparent or colored acrylic joints between turned wood elements, she introduced moments of surprise and playfulness, transforming a centuries-old technique into a contemporary craft rooted in repetition, geometry, and material contrast.
